Physical Education

Children in Grades K to 2 will learn to:
Increase their physical coordination and endurance Learn team building skills and understand the social aspect of being part of a team Understand the connection between a healthy body and a healthy mind
By using these techniques:

Play Yard & Park Actvities

Engaging in:

  • Running
  • Catching
  • Climbing
  • Skipping
  • Tag

Being A Team

Participating in team sports such as:

  • Basketball
  • Soccer
  • Kick-ball
  • T-ball


 

Children in Grades 3 to 5 will learn to:
Develop their large and small motor skills, using a variety of games, sports, and movement activities Learn how to play a variety of team sports exhibiting an understanding of the various strategies - learn how to be a good sport and supportive teammate Learn to move in a variety of ways in order to find their favorite activities, leading them to develop a lifelong passion and interest in a variety of sports and physical activities
By using these techniques:

Living a Healthy Life

Learning skills necessary to maintain a healthy life, to safely participate in a variety of developmentally appropriate physical activities, and to develop and monitor their own health and fitness plan

Group Activities

Using group games and activities children develop their motor skills and movement concepts while also focusing on developing social skills, and making healthy, emotionally rational decisions. As children are developing their physical skills, we also emphasize leadership, collaboration and cooperation

Group Dynamics

 Children are given time to reflect on their contributions to the group activities and time to resolve interpersonal situations in order to learn from their choices as well as evaluate various strategies

Exhibiting Work

The children will gain strategies necessary for effective participation in physical activities and games by practicing, receiving positive feedback and through self assessment
