The middle school transition
By the end of fifth grade, families and teachers know each student’s strengths, challenges, and growth areas well. This insight, combined with detailed student reports and conferences, helps you and your student plan a smooth, confident transition to middle school.
KapKa graduates often stand out to admissions teams and their future schools because of their holistic education, independence, and collaborative skills. Our support for middle school preparation includes:
Alumni connections to share insights about area schools
Teacher and administrative check-ins to assist with applications
A ‘Middle School Panel’ of KapKa alumni, answering questions for current students and families
Alumni voices
“KapKa has had a lasting impact on my daughters. They're excited to go to school and to learn. They were well-prepared for middle school in all areas. They advocate for themselves, and they can ask for help if they need it.”
— Ron, parent class of ‘23
“If I were to show the school to a new parent, the only thing I would do is show them the fifth graders. The confidence, the poise, the language, the vocabulary.”
— Gus, parent class of ‘25
“When we came to tour KapKa, and talking to alumni kids, I was super impressed with how together, and how aware they were of themselves. Their whole vibe was just really confident.”
— Jeff, parent class of ‘24
“KapKa prepared me to get in there and not be afraid to talk to people and get to know people. I was able to really use what I learned to push myself ahead in the subjects.”
— Yasma, class of ‘23
“KapKa got me ready for middle school by teaching me to stand up for myself and to stand up for others.”
— Sam, class of ‘24
“It was really nice having not just teachers but also parents around, because then there'd be new people to engage with.”
— Hildi, class of ‘23
