KapKa kids know themselves as learners
KapKa creates a learning environment where school is a special place to be, and where your child knows that they are a valued member of a community. KapKa days are filled with learning in our play, and play in our learning - keeping curiosity at the core of everything we do.
Our program draws from established and science-based curriculums, as well as creative practices, giving teachers the freedom to interweave skills, and craft responsive instruction, for each class and student. Our project-based learning and social-emotional program put classwork into action, building your student’s ownership of their growing skills and knowledge.
Graduating students leave KapKa prepared for middle schools of all types - from area public schools to independent schools - and are known for being creative and inquisitive learners, and positive community members and leaders.
A note on technology: We wait to use computers until they are intentionally introduced in our 4th & 5th grades in preparation for middle school. These devices stay at school, and are used to prepare students in online research skills, typing practice, and digital literacy and citizenship.
K-5: one through-line
Each of our grades is distinct, while also belonging to a multi-grade pod - with developmental focuses that culminate in 5th grade.

Kindergarten & 1st Grade
Purposeful play and time outdoors, joyful connections to math and literacy. Your child learns deeply, by doing.
Navigators
2nd & 3rd Grades
Growth mindset, deepening skills, and a broader sense of their community. Your child learns through connections.
Trailblazers
4th & 5th Grades
Leadership, applying knowledge, and self-awareness. Your child will be ready for their next journey.
